Passenger Bus Crashes into Car and Plunges into River in Shocking Scene

A terrifying crash in France sent a bus plunging straight into a river—sparking a dramatic rescue as stunned bystanders rushed to save those inside.

The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. local time near Juvisy-sur-Orge, just outside Paris, when a training bus lost control shortly after leaving a station.

Officials say the bus, driven by a trainee, slammed into a parked car before both vehicles were dragged into the River Seine.

There were four people on board at the time, including the trainee driver, an instructor, and two passengers.

What happened next was pure chaos.

As the bus began sinking into the river, people nearby didn’t hesitate—jumping into action to help pull victims from the water. Members of a rowing club were among the first to respond, while others along the riverbank rushed in to assist.

One woman living on a nearby houseboat described hearing screams and immediately grabbing a lifebuoy.

“She was screaming in the water,” the witness said. “I threw her the lifebuoy, and she grabbed it. With help, we pulled her up onto the boat.”

The rescued woman was reportedly freezing, in shock, and suffered a hand injury. Witnesses said she believed she was going to die.

Miraculously, all four people on the bus were pulled from the water alive. Officials have not released details about their current conditions.

Images from the scene show the bus submerged near the riverbank, with the car floating nearby. Emergency crews—including firefighters, rescue boats, and even a helicopter—swarmed the area as divers searched the water to make sure no one else was trapped.

Authorities say the parked car was empty at the time of the crash.

The mayor of Juvisy-sur-Orge said the bus driver lost control just after leaving the station, calling the incident shocking and unlike anything she had ever seen.

“It’s the first time I’ve experienced something like this,” she said, adding that the quick response from emergency crews likely saved lives.

Police confirmed the trainee driver did hold the proper license required to operate the vehicle.

In the aftermath, traffic and public transportation in the area were heavily disrupted as crews worked to recover the vehicles and secure the scene.

An investigation is now underway to determine exactly what caused the crash.
