Two Arrested After Shocking Acid Attack Outside McDonald’s Leaves Man Hospitalized

Customers were left horrified after a reported acid attack outside a McDonald’s sent one man to the hospital and triggered a massive emergency response Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers rushed to Warrington Road in Ashton-under-Lyne around 4 p.m. after receiving reports of what authorities described as a “hazmat incident.”

Emergency crews, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, quickly flooded the busy area as shocked witnesses looked on.

Authorities say a man in his 30s suffered injuries during the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Thankfully, police later confirmed the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Two men — one in his 40s and another in his 50s — were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault.

Both suspects remain in police custody as investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened.

Photos and videos from the scene showed large sections of the area taped off while emergency crews investigated.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the public is not believed to be at further risk.

“Emergency services were called to a business premises on Warrington Road following reports of a hazmat incident,” a police spokesperson said.

“One man aged in his 30s has been taken to hospital where he is currently being treated for his injuries.”

Fire officials also confirmed that two crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene.

The frightening incident comes as concerns continue growing in parts of the UK over violent attacks involving corrosive substances.

In recent years, police have warned that acid attacks and threats involving corrosive chemicals have increasingly been linked to robberies, gang violence, and assaults.

Authorities have not yet released further details about what substance may have been involved in Friday’s incident.
