Five American cruise passengers were arrested in the Bahamas after a wild confrontation at the Nassau Cruise Port allegedly spiraled into a second violent incident inside a police station, leaving four officers injured.
The group, made up of three women and two men, was taken into custody Monday evening after authorities said they became involved in a chaotic fight with several other cruise ship passengers at the busy port in Nassau.
Video obtained by Our News Bahamas reportedly showed several people being shoved to the ground during the melee as the situation quickly got out of control.
But police said the trouble did not end once the group was arrested.
After the five tourists were brought to a local police station, authorities said a “violent struggle” broke out. The group allegedly damaged property inside the station and injured multiple officers.
One woman is accused of throwing a chair through a glass door, shattering it. Police said one man then allegedly kicked out the remaining glass and tried to escape through the broken door.
Another video obtained by Our News Bahamas appeared to show a man crawling through the busted glass door as the chaos unfolded.
Four police officers were injured during the alleged struggle. One officer suffered a serious injury to his left shoulder and had to be taken to the hospital, authorities said.
The five Americans, who have not been publicly identified, also suffered minor injuries.
Police said the group is now facing multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer, fighting in a public place, resisting arrest, malicious damage and disorderly behavior in a police station.
The suspects remained in custody as of Tuesday, and police said the investigation is still ongoing.
The dramatic arrests have drawn attention in Nassau, one of the busiest cruise destinations in the Caribbean, where thousands of tourists pass through the port each week.
