A 79-year-old woman was killed and five other people were injured Monday after a Tesla carrying three children veered out of control and crashed into a crowded café patio outside a Target in Southern California.

The terrifying crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at Urbane Cafe in Simi Valley.

Authorities said the driver of the white Tesla lost control, jumped the curb and struck the woman as she was walking on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.

The victim, who was from Agoura Hills, suffered life-threatening injuries and later died. Officials confirmed she was a pedestrian and was not inside the vehicle.

After hitting her, the Tesla continued forward, smashed through the café’s outdoor planters and barreled into the patio dining area, where tables and umbrellas were set up.

The vehicle finally came to a stop in the middle of the patio.

The Ventura County Fire Department said crews arrived to find six victims at the scene. In addition to the woman who died, five people were treated for minor injuries.

Three children were reportedly inside the Tesla when it crashed. Authorities have not released their ages or provided further details about their conditions.

The driver has also not been publicly identified.

Investigators said the driver lost control of the vehicle, but it remains unclear what caused the crash.

The deadly incident remains under investigation.
