Family of Three Plunges to Their Deaths From Tower in Horrifying Incident

A family of three was found dead at the bottom of a towering tourist attraction in Germany, with police investigating whether the deaths were part of a suicide pact.

The two parents and their child were discovered Thursday beneath the 213-foot Harz Tower in Altenau, according to local reports.

Firefighters and other emergency crews rushed to the popular observation tower after receiving a call at about 4:40 p.m. However, all three family members had suffered fatal injuries and could not be saved.

“The first emergency responders on the scene found two men and one woman with fatal injuries,” a police spokesperson said.

Authorities believe the victims were two parents and their child. Police said the early evidence suggests no other person was involved in their deaths.

“According to the current state of the investigation, no third-party negligence is found,” local police said.

Investigators also determined there was no technical defect or malfunction involving the tower.

The area was quickly sealed off while officers examined the scene, and the county’s crisis intervention team was deployed in the aftermath of the tragedy.

Police said the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths, including what may have led to the incident, remain under investigation.
