A quiet Friday morning turned chaotic in a New Jersey neighborhood when a Tesla smashed through a closed garage door and plowed straight into the kitchen of a home.
The bizarre crash happened around 11 a.m. in South Brunswick Township, where police said a 68-year-old man suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel of a 2026 Tesla.
The electric vehicle slammed through the garage door, continued through the structure and finally came to a stop inside the home’s kitchen.
Fortunately, no one was inside the house when the car came barreling through.
The driver suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
Authorities said the man had suffered a medical condition before the crash, though they have not released additional details about what happened.
It is also unclear whether any of the Tesla’s driver-assistance or self-driving features were engaged at the time.
The impact caused significant damage to the home and also triggered a small gas leak.
As a precaution, nearby homes were briefly evacuated while emergency crews worked to secure the area.
Code inspectors were called in to examine the house and determine when it would be safe for anyone to return.
Images from the scene showed the Tesla lodged deep inside the home after blasting through the garage and into the kitchen.
No one else was injured.
