A violent stabbing near a California park left three people seriously injured Sunday evening, including one victim who was initially listed in critical condition.
The attack happened near Cesar Chavez Park in Salinas, California, on Sunday, Sept. 6.
Salinas police were called to the area near the 700 block of East Street at about 5:17 p.m. after receiving a report that someone had been stabbed.
According to KSBW, the person who called police reported that her nephew had been stabbed.
When officers arrived, they found multiple people suffering from serious stab wounds near the park.
About six minutes later, at approximately 5:23 p.m., another injured victim walked into the emergency room at Natividad Medical Center seeking treatment. Police ultimately said three people had been stabbed in the incident.
One of the victims was initially reported to be in critical condition.
Despite the seriousness of the injuries, Salinas police later said all three victims were expected to survive.
Authorities have not released the names or ages of the victims.
Police also have not identified a suspect, released a suspect description or announced any arrests in connection with the attack.
Investigators have not publicly said what sparked the stabbing, whether the violence began inside or outside the park, or whether the victims and attacker knew one another.
No possible motive has been released.
