On Saturday just after 3 p.m., the Carter Center announced via Twitter that Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States and a native of Plains, Ga., has chosen to enter hospice care.
The Center issued a statement explaining that, after several brief hospital stays, Carter has opted to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of medical intervention.
The statement also notes that his family and medical team fully support this decision and ask for privacy during this time. Carter celebrated his 98th birthday on Oct. 1, and he and his wife, Rosalynn, have lived in their hometown of Plains during their post-presidency years.
Although he served only one term as president, Carter also served as the governor of Georgia. He left office in January 1981 after losing to Republican Ronald Reagan. In recent years, Carter has experienced a number of health issues, including undergoing surgery for liver cancer in August 2015.
His treatments ended a year later after an experimental drug reportedly eliminated the cancer.

Not only that, I have a MASSIVE issue with the Idiot considering he boycotted the US from the Olympics in 1980. Many of us worked our tails off to not only be on the Olympic team but some of us only had one chance to compete. Thanks to Carter DUMB F the US boycotted and we never got our chance to compete. Forget the fact all the money, time, effort, sacrifice to make the team! You didn’t put that effort in, WE DID CARTER!
