As reported by local media outlet The Reporter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, was arrested on Tuesday by police in Monroe County, Georgia.

The charges against Carswell include DUI, fleeing police, and outstanding warrants, according to law enforcement officials who confirmed the incident to PEOPLE.

While Thompson, who was a passenger in the car during the three-mile chase, was not charged, she is considered a witness in the case, as stated by the publication.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Lt. John Thompson confirmed the arrest, and PEOPLE has reached out to a representative for Thompson for additional comment.

As per The Reporter, on Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., a police officer ran the tag of a Dodge Charger parked in front of a gas station on Highway 24. Upon discovering that the owner of the vehicle had a warrant under his name, the officer tried to pull the car over, but it accelerated and headed north.

To stop the vehicle, law enforcement officials used a PIT (precision immobilization technique) maneuver, which involved spinning the car and disabling it near Hickman Road, according to authorities.

According to The Reporter, Dralin Carswell, aged 21, was arrested for DUI, fleeing police, failing to maintain lanes, and following too closely. In addition, Carswell received a speeding citation.

The publication also revealed that another passenger, Julian Malik Divon Williams, aged 24, was also arrested on outstanding warrants.

According to reports, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, Thompson’s sister and sole custody holder of the reality star, picked her up from Monroe County Jail.

The Toddlers & Tiaras alum has dated Carswell for two years but has been mostly silent about her relationship outside of a few interviews. In one with Teen Vogue, she revealed that Carswell might be her “only friend” because she doesn’t trust people her age. “To be honest, I do not have many friends. At all,” she said. “Because I feel like folks are so much like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m friends with Honey Boo Boo.”

She added, “I don’t trust nobody really, so I don’t have friends.”

The couple has been seen together at meet-and-greet events and even took a trip to Red Rocks in Colorado in July of last year. However, their four-year age gap has drawn criticism from some fans, particularly since Alana is still legally a minor. Mama June spoke about the relationship in an interview with TooFab, confirming that she had met Dralin and that they had been together for over a year.

“People need to realize that Alana is going to be 17 in August and that Pumpkin and Josh were the same age as they were,” Mama June: Road to Redemption star explained. She went on to add that Alana was receiving hate for being in an interracial relationship with an older partner, but that she was not the 6- or 7-year-old child that fans had first met 11 years ago. Alana has grown up and will be graduating from high school next year, Mama June said.

According to a July interview with Entertainment Tonight, Thompson addressed the criticism of their age gap and being an interracial couple. “The two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s Black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple,” she said. However, Thompson added that she doesn’t care about the negativity from fans and haters because her sister and Carswell’s mother approve of their relationship and they are happy.
