The 94-year-old veteran of the United States Army, Frank Tammaro, is speaking out against his forced removal from the assisted living community on Staten Island called Island Shores Residences. Tammaro and fifty-three other seniors were informed in March that they had less than two months to leave the property; only later would they learn that the building was being transformed into the Midland Beach Migrant Center. Barbara Annunziata, Tammaro’s daughter, voiced her dissatisfaction by drawing attention to what she saw as the unfair distribution of resources between immigrants and US citizens.
Unexpected Shift:
Lifelong New Yorker Tammaro talked about the psychological effects of being suddenly evicted from his home. Island Shores Residences abruptly changed even though there were promises the senior center will reopen under new administration. Breaking their pledge to reopen as another senior living facility, the new owners, Homes for the Homeless, repurposed the facility to serve homeless families.
Debate on Housing Deal for Migrants:
According to Tammaro, the decision to turn Island Shores into a center for hosting migrants was decided “behind closed doors.” At first, the new owners, Homes for the Homeless, stated that they planned to transfer ownership of the facility to a senior operator. But in August, the building was transformed into the Midland Beach Migrant Center thanks to a deal with City Hall. Tammaro argues that locals were not given enough opportunity to challenge the ruling.
The Veteran’s Resistance Efforts:
Tammaro was reluctant to relocate at first, but as Homes for the Homeless moved forward with their plans, he was in danger of being evicted. He voiced his unhappiness at the absence of a meaningful opportunity to contest the judgment at a press conference in September. Tammaro, a Korean War veteran who served in the US Army Signal Corps, highlights the effects on other soldiers who were also evacuated.
Fury Over Inequalities:
Barbara Annunziata, Tammaro’s daughter, expressed her displeasure with what she saw as the unfair treatment of immigrants and US citizens. She complained that while her father was having trouble getting insurance for a home health aide, the system was giving more resources to migrants.

The Democratic party is in control and their greed is self evident.
We all know what this is about and it stinks to high heaven. It’s about the fact that the illegal invaders are much more likely to vote DemoRAT than elderly veterans, especially white, elderly veterans. That’s what’s been behind this open borders debacle for years now. Biden and every other left wing politician belong at the end of a rope.
