Pro-Palestinian demonstrators halted the traditional Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday. They engaged in physical altercations with NYPD cops and created a chaotic scene that stretched beyond the famous yearly event. Although the protesters’ goal was to support Gaza, they were criticized for their disruptive behavior and use of divisive chants.

Activist-led protests:

Palestinian flags were flown by hundreds of demonstrators as they gathered along Sixth Avenue, holding posters that demanded a “end to genocide.” The protesters, shouting phrases like “River to the sea,” got into physical altercations with NYPD cops and made an effort to sabotage the customary tree-lighting ritual.

Message from the Protesters:

In addition to expressing their support for Palestine, the demonstrators called for an end to what they saw as unfair treatment of the Palestinian people. But the usage of the slogan “River to the sea,” which has been extensively condemned for being associated with antisemitism, garnered notice.

News Corp Building is the target:

The protestors, unable to get to the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, moved their demonstration in the direction of the News Corp building, which houses Fox News and The Post. Tensions were heightened by the fact that pro-Palestinian demonstrators have previously targeted this area.

Tensions Increase:

The NYPD was up against a difficult scenario as they kept pushing the crowds back. The altercations became more heated as protesters yelled disparaging words at the police. Physical altercations resulted from attempts to breach barricades, and some demonstrators were arrested.

Effect on Travelers:

Thousands of visitors who were excited to see the festive custom expressed their displeasure with the protesters’ disruption. Some tourists, such as Jamie Fry from the UK, described the protest as “very annoying” and chastised the protestors for ruining a beloved occasion.

Diverse Responses:

Some sympathized with the protestors’ cause, while others denounced them for bringing politics into a joyous occasion. While acknowledging that the protest embarrassed her, Opal Burnett of St. Louis, Missouri, praised the NYPD for their poise.

Christmas Cheer Is in the Air:

Many tree viewers were adamant about continuing to enjoy the festive custom in spite of the disruptions. The Christmas tree, according to Bronx resident Lillian Gonzalez, symbolizes peace, not strife, and the joyous occasion won’t be overshadowed by the demonstrators’ acts.

In summary:

An otherwise happy event became tense due to the contentious demonstration outside Rockefeller Center. The altercation between NYPD officers and pro-Palestinian protestors brought to light the difficulties in striking a balance between public events and freedom of expression. The 91st annual Christmas tree lighting event ultimately went off without any significant hiccups, demonstrating the holiday spirit’s tenacity in the face of adversity.

  1. Why is thisPresident allowing these protest and waving theiri flags . This is not there country ! Send them packing

    1. There’s no ‘good guys’ among any of the Middle Eastern religions! Neither Muslims vs Christians vs Jews, all are evil psychotic mass murderous mental illness! They’ve been enjoying mass murdering each other for the past 10,000 years… and bragging about it…

    2. Same as there are American Jews, there are also American Arabs…some of them are actually Christians. And YES they have the same rights as the rest of us to air their grievances
The American made bombs are killing civilians in Gaza, women, childrens, newborns in hospitals( talk about proactive abortions).

The USA should take NO side in that mess. The moment we are out, they can either kill each others OR most likely make a deal that everybody can live with.

Between the British and the USA we created this mess of eternal struggle, it is time we be out.

  2. Get these Fers out of our country! This is the US NOT Palestine ot the middle east! If they want to go fight then go over to the middle east you traitors and sympathisers and fight with your dear Hamas and see how long it takes fir them to start using you as human shields, rape or murder your corpses when you men wearing dresses arrive, or feminists smart off to them because you disagree! You’re all pathetic!

We DO NOT need this garbage in our country!

  3. Where are the “Swastikas”? You guys are a bunch of liars. Swastikas are just worn by Trump supporters
Both Jews and Palestinians are been led astray by their extreme leaders. Hamas was initially supported by Israel right wing with $$$$ as a counters to the Palestinian Authority who was willing to make a deal with the “reasonable” Jews for a two state solution. Netanyahu is also responsible for the deaths of those jewish people.
Hamas will never be totally destroyed until Netanyahu and his extreme Zionists get away with “cleaning” Palestine from any living Palestinians…and guess who are complicit with that ethnic cleansing? YOU ARE American voters….moronic christians hoodwinked by the Jews…

  4. THE FACTS! I’m a Jew living in an average home community. I have Muslims living 5 houses away, blacks 10 houses away and virtually every other ethnic group somewhere in the neighborhood. During Halloween everyone gathered with their children in two driveways next to me and celebrated together. All fun, kids playing with each other. parents drinking and laughing. Watch a football game, college or pro and everyone gets along and has a great time. The scum that goes to these protests are total garbage and don’t belong in this country. Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, China problems are all political and idiots that have no life and can’t think for themselves. Ninety five percent of the people can get along fine, it’s the idiot troublemakers that cause all the problems.
