In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, with wars raging in Ukraine and the Middle East, one might assume the U.S. military’s focus would be on strengthening our defenses and ensuring national security. But instead, they’re flaunting their support for LGBT insanity. This past week, the left-leaning Stars and Stripes revealed that airmen at Osan Air Base in South Korea are now authorized to wear a “pride morale patch” on their uniforms to celebrate the left’s contrived “pride month.”
The patch, proudly displayed in a photograph published by the outlet, features an LGBT flag encircled by a black ring with the words “Osan+” and “Osan Air Base ROK.” Capt. Michelle Chang told Stars and Stripes that the patch “represents the advancement of the Air Force’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, dignity, and respect within the mission.”
The patch was the brainchild of Osan Plus, a pro-LGBT group established at the base last October. Tech. Sgt. Brittany Ortega, the organization’s president, mentioned that getting the patch approved was a breeze and praised the leadership’s eagerness to promote the acceptance of LGBTQ service members and their families. Cringe-worthy as it may be, this “rainbow jihad” at Osan Air Base isn’t the military’s only embarrassing capitulation to LGBT radicalism this month.
Stars and Stripes also reported that Marine Corps Installations Pacific (MCIPAC), which oversees operations in the Pacific, went out of its way to respond to Facebook criticism of its post celebrating “pride month.” One user, Eduardo Flores, who identified as a service member, criticized the command, stating, “The USMC does not take pride in a sexual agenda that continues to be shoved down our throats. Servicemembers do not wish to continue being associated with a sexual movement that has nothing to do with the military and what we do.”
In response, an MCIPAC-operated account trotted out the tired motto, “Once a Marine always a Marine,” and referenced branch policy on discrimination, including “gender identity.” The command issued another comment acknowledging the strong feelings on this issue but insisted that “supporting pride aligns with the Marine Corps’ values of honor, courage, and commitment.”
The military’s infatuation with DEI-style ideology isn’t a new phenomenon. For years, the armed forces have openly commemorated leftist rainbow holidays, even using taxpayer money to transport service members to military-sponsored “pride” events. Defenders of these needless celebrations refuse to admit that the military’s obsession with LGBT radicalism and other neo-Marxist ideologies is eroding its overall readiness.
Under Joe Biden’s presidency, the military is facing its worst recruiting crisis since transitioning to an all-volunteer force in the early 1970s. With the exception of the Marine Corps and Space Force, every branch missed its recruiting targets for the 2023 fiscal year. The Army, Navy, and Air Force fell short by approximately 10,000, 7,400, and 2,700 recruits, respectively.
Earlier this year, The Daily Caller obtained data suggesting this ongoing crisis is “likely” fueled by a significant drop in white recruits. Military.com, another left-wing outlet, published similar findings about Army recruitment in January. The outlet noted that “[n]o other demographic group” has experienced such a downward trend in recent years, and the “rate at which white recruitment has fallen far outpaces nationwide demographic shifts.”
While the military promotes LGBT radicalism, it’s also neglecting critical infrastructure issues. America’s naval fleet is shrinking rapidly, with ships retiring faster than they can be replaced. The Pentagon exacerbates these problems by spending recklessly on faulty ships and aircraft that routinely malfunction and cost millions—if not billions—to repair.
As the military continues down this path of woke madness, one has to wonder: who is looking out for America’s real security interests?
