Buckle up because we’re diving into the real story behind Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Kamala Harris’ pick for Vice President. According to some very pointed accusations from veterans, Walz has been “embellishing” his military career and abandoning his National Guard battalion just when they needed him most.
Retired Command Sergeants Major Thomas Behrends and Paul Herr didn’t mince words in their 2018 Facebook letter, which resurfaced thanks to the Daily Wire. They claim Walz retired from his 24-year stint in the National Guard right before his unit’s deployment to Iraq in 2005. These veterans allege that despite promising his fellow troops he’d join them, Walz chose to walk away instead.
“On May 16th, 2005, [Walz] quit, betraying his country, leaving the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion and its Soldiers hanging; without its senior Non-Commissioned Officer, as the battalion prepared for war,” Behrends and Herr wrote.
Imagine that—just in time to launch his political career, Walz wrapped up his military service, running successfully for Congress in 2006. Coincidence? Maybe. Convenient? Definitely.
These veterans argue that Walz didn’t just leave the National Guard; he could have sought permission from the Pentagon to run for office while still on active duty. Instead, they say he “slithered out the door,” dodging the necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth transition out of service. His retirement filing? It reportedly showed “soldier not available for signature.”
And here’s the kicker: Behrends and Herr accuse Walz of “embellishing and selectively omitting facts of his military career for years.” That’s a pretty serious charge for someone who’s now in the national spotlight as a vice-presidential candidate.
Now, Walz maintains he has “an honorable record.” He joined the National Guard after high school, served in the 1st Battalion, 125th Field Artillery, and rose to the rank of command sergeant major. “We all do what we can. I’m proud I did 24 years,” Walz has said.
But actions speak louder than words, don’t they? During his time in Congress, Walz opposed then-President George W. Bush’s plans to increase troop levels in Iraq. Critics say his actions in office didn’t exactly line up with the commitment and sacrifice expected from someone with his military background.
As Walz steps into the spotlight as Kamala Harris’ running mate, the American public deserves to know the truth about his military service. Did he abandon his battalion when they needed him most? Has he been embellishing his record? These are questions that demand answers.
What do you think? Is this just political mudslinging, or is there more to Tim Walz’s military career than meets the eye? Drop your thoughts in the comments. This is a story that’s far from over.

Gosh another demorat lying about his military service, just like Kerry
This may put a cloud on him 24 years of service and since he made top Seargent, not much can be said about his working within the system to get that high up. I wouldn’t challenge his military service after 24 years. His record as a Governor is another matter, his allowing cities to burn during the terrible riots that the Democrats said were peaceful when video showed the ruthless Antifa and far left agitators burning and killing innocent Americans needs to be answered his failure to send in the National Guard which he was well familiar with. These Democratic candidates for President and Vice President should scare the bajesus out of normal god loving Americans who want America to be back to when we all grew up loving the flag and our American history of excellence.
How about God-loving (with a capital “G)? And what’s a “bejesus”?
