In a rare moment of unfiltered honesty, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) peeled back the curtain on the 2020 Democratic primary debacle, revealing what many have suspected all along—a deep state establishment conspiracy that robbed him of the presidential nomination. Appearing on the popular “Theo Von Show” podcast, Sanders didn’t hold back, detailing how the political insiders pulled the rug out from under his campaign just when it was gaining momentum.

“That’s what happens when you take on the establishments,” Sanders told Theo Von. “What happened is we won the first three primaries, and then the establishment got very, very nervous…and they said, ‘Hey, it would be a good idea if you dropped out.’” Now, let’s pause right there. What Sanders is describing is nothing short of an orchestrated takedown. The kind of backroom deal-making that proves once again the Democratic Party’s commitment to democracy is as flimsy as a paper straw.

Sanders didn’t mince words about the state of our political system either. He went so far as to question whether America is still a democracy, and frankly, it’s hard to argue with him. “I use the term oligarchy,” Sanders explained, “An oligarchy is a society where small numbers of very wealthy people control the economic and political life of the country. I think we are moving rapidly in that direction.” You heard it straight from the man himself—Bernie Sanders, the once-beloved champion of the progressive left, now relegated to the sidelines by the very forces he spent his career railing against.

It’s almost amusing to watch the Democratic establishment and their media lapdogs preach about “saving democracy” when, behind closed doors, they’re doing everything they can to stifle it. Sanders’ experience is a textbook case. He goes on to explain that money, not the will of the people, is the true driving force in American politics. “You want to run for office, can you? Yup, you can,” Sanders said. “But if you’re going to win, and I have 10 times more money than you do, I will beat you 95% of the time.” In other words, unless you’re bankrolled by the elite, don’t even bother showing up.

And then there’s his lukewarm endorsement of Kamala Harris. While the rest of the Democratic Party is practically canonizing Harris, Sanders couldn’t muster more than a few tepid words. When asked if Harris is the “best person” for the Democratic nomination, Sanders simply replied, “Well, she is the person.” Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Sure, he gave her some credit, acknowledging that it’s no easy feat for a Black woman to rise through the ranks. But let’s be honest, this is Sanders going through the motions, sticking to the party line even when he knows it’s full of crap.

The truth is, Bernie Sanders has become the very thing he once despised—a cog in the Democratic machine. He knows he was screwed by the establishment, yet he continues to play along. Whether out of fear, loyalty, or sheer stubbornness, Sanders refuses to call out the party for what it is. And in doing so, he’s betrayed not only himself but the millions of Americans who believed in his message of change.

At the end of the day, Bernie Sanders is the definition of a coward. He talks a big game about oligarchy and corruption, but when it comes time to stand up and fight, he falls in line like the rest of them. The sad reality is that the Democratic Party isn’t interested in democracy—they’re interested in control. And Bernie Sanders, whether he likes it or not, is just another pawn in their game.
