In a chilling display of just how far some will go to prevent Donald Trump’s presidency from taking shape, multiple members of his incoming administration were targeted with bomb threats and “swatting” attacks this week. These acts of political terrorism, revealed Wednesday by Trump transition team spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt, mark a dangerous escalation in the Left’s attempts to undermine the democratic process.

“Last night and this morning, several of President Trump’s Cabinet nominees and Administration appointees were targeted in violent, un-American threats to their lives and those who live with them,” Leavitt stated.

This wasn’t just name-calling on Twitter or the usual round of protest signs outside government offices. No, these were calculated, violent threats — bomb scares and “swatting” incidents designed to sow fear, disrupt lives, and make it clear that anyone who dares to serve under Trump does so at great personal risk.

What Happened to “Tolerance”?

The irony here is breathtaking. For years, we’ve been told that the so-called “resistance” is about love, tolerance, and protecting democracy. But now, the mask is slipping, and what we’re seeing is something darker: a willingness to use intimidation, even threats of violence, to achieve political goals.

This isn’t protest — it’s political warfare. “Swatting,” for example, involves calling in fake emergencies to provoke an armed police response. It’s a dangerous, potentially lethal tactic, and it’s being used against people whose only crime is being nominated for public service.

Swift Action, But Where’s the Outrage?

Thankfully, law enforcement acted quickly to secure the safety of those targeted. But where is the outrage from the media? Where are the breathless headlines condemning these threats as the assaults on democracy that they truly are?

Imagine for a moment if this had happened in reverse. Imagine if members of a Democratic president-elect’s team had been targeted with bomb threats. The cries of “domestic terrorism” would be deafening, and rightly so. But when the victims are Trump’s appointees, the silence is telling.

Uniting a Divided Nation

Despite these threats, Trump’s team remains focused on the task at hand: preparing to lead a deeply divided nation toward safety and prosperity. “President Trump and the Transition are focused on doing the work of uniting our nation,” Leavitt said, adding that these acts of intimidation will not deter them.

It’s a powerful message of resolve, but let’s not pretend this behavior is going to stop unless it’s called out for what it is: an attack on the very foundations of our republic.

The fact that political violence and intimidation are becoming normalized is a sign of just how broken our political culture has become. It’s time for leaders on all sides to condemn this behavior unequivocally. If they don’t, the message is clear: This kind of thuggery is acceptable — as long as the “right” people are targeted.

A Dangerous Precedent

The attacks on Trump’s Cabinet nominees are more than isolated incidents; they’re part of a broader trend of escalating hostility toward those who hold dissenting political views. This is not how a civilized society operates.

If we truly care about democracy, we should all agree on one thing: Violence and intimidation have no place in our politics. And yet, for some, the ends apparently justify the means.

President Trump and his team are standing firm. Let’s hope the rest of the country follows their example before it’s too late.
