100 Bikers Overrun Boston Highways — Trump Demands Crackdown

Boston spiraled into chaos Saturday afternoon as more than 100 riders on bicycles, dirt bikes, and electric scooters flooded the city’s O’Neill Tunnel and surrounding highways, shutting down lanes, weaving through cars, and defying every traffic law in sight. Drivers were left trapped, terrified, and furious — and critics say Boston’s Democratic leadership has once again failed to keep the city under control.

The mayhem erupted just after 2 p.m. on Aug. 16, when Massachusetts State Police began receiving frantic calls about a massive swarm tearing through the heart of Boston. “Here comes one or two bikes, then 20 bicycles,” said motorist Michael Filandro. “I thought it was a little parade or something. But there was no escort, no police. They were blowing through lights, zipping around cars.”

Bystander videos show helmet-less riders speeding down highways, cutting off drivers, and swerving recklessly between lanes. At one point, a biker slammed into a state police cruiser, ditched the wrecked bike, and bolted on foot.

Police managed to arrest one suspect, 22-year-old Adam Harrison, after a trooper recognized him at the scene. Harrison, however, claims he wasn’t part of the chaos. “I was not on the highway,” he told Boston 25 News. “I would not condone that at all. I think it’s stupid and reckless to go on the highway.” Harrison has pleaded not guilty to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He’s scheduled to return to court on Sept. 30.

Witnesses say the swarm came out of nowhere. “It was scary, we didn’t even hear it coming,” said Michael Lancaster. “They just revved their horns to make themselves known. A bunch of dudes on motorcycles just ripping through.”

Boston’s Democratic Mayor Michelle Wu has stayed silent, offering no statement, no plan, and no assurance to rattled residents. Critics say her administration’s failure to crack down on public-safety threats has emboldened criminals and left citizens vulnerable. “It’s lawlessness,” said one South Boston resident who asked not to be named. “People are afraid to drive, afraid to go downtown. And the mayor? Nowhere to be found.”

Street takeovers like this one have exploded nationwide, particularly in Democrat-run cities, where critics argue lax enforcement policies and anti-police rhetoric have fueled chaos. Packs of riders intentionally overwhelm local cops, knowing their numbers make arrests nearly impossible. Unregistered dirt bikes, electric scooters, and helmet-less stunts add to the danger.

President Trump, who returned to the White House in 2025 on a “law and order” platform, has repeatedly called on cities to restore control. His administration is reportedly considering federal crackdowns on large-scale street takeovers, including stricter vehicle seizure policies and funding for highway patrols in cities where local governments “fail to act.”

Massachusetts State Police are reviewing videos from drivers and bystanders to identify more participants and plan additional arrests. Sources tell us that possible responses include targeted sting operations, license plate tracking, and immediate vehicle impoundments to deter future incidents. But until City Hall takes a firm stand, residents fear Boston’s streets could see another takeover at any moment.
