Disneyland Man Suddenly Dies Riding ‘Frozen’ Boat Ride

A family vacation at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort turned tragic on Friday when a 53-year-old man died after losing consciousness aboard the park’s popular Frozen Ever After attraction.

According to a resort spokesperson, the man — described as a foreign visitor — had a “pre-existing medical condition” and was undergoing regular checkups for heart disease and high blood pressure. “The resort deeply regrets the passing of the guest and will do its utmost to provide necessary assistance to his family,” the statement read.

Park officials said the incident happened around 10 a.m. as the boat was preparing to dock at the end of the Frozen Ever After ride. The slow-moving boat attraction, which opened in 2023, takes guests through iconic scenes from Disney’s hit animated film Frozen and has no age or height restrictions.

“Cast members immediately arranged first aid to check on him and perform CPR,” the park confirmed. Emergency responders rushed the man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 11:30 a.m.

An initial investigation determined the death was “not related to ride safety,” according to officials. The attraction itself has been temporarily closed “due to operational adjustments” and is expected to reopen on September 19.

The Frozen-themed area at Hong Kong Disneyland, launched last year, marked Disney’s first-ever fully immersive land based on the blockbuster film. The ride has quickly become one of the park’s biggest draws, regularly attracting long wait times and families eager to relive Anna and Elsa’s adventures.

Despite Friday’s tragedy, Disney emphasized that the ride remains safe for visitors. “Guest safety remains our top priority,” a spokesperson said, adding that park staff are “working closely with authorities to provide full support.”
