Horror on Chicago Train as Woman is Doused in Liquid and Set on Fire

A 26‑year-old woman remains in critical condition after being set on fire during a terrifying incident aboard a CTA Blue Line train in Chicago’s Loop, police say.

The attack occurred around 9:25 p.m. Monday near the Clark and Lake station. According to Chicago police, the woman was engaged in a verbal argument with a man when he allegedly poured a liquid on her and then ignited it.

As the train came to a stop, the suspect fled the scene. The woman managed to exit the car but collapsed on the platform. Witnesses say she was “in a really bad, really bad state” — hyperventilating, screaming in pain, and “really in bad shape.” The fire was reportedly extinguished by bystanders before officers arrived.

She suffered severe burns and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, police said.

Authorities are actively searching for the suspect. No arrests have been announced publicly yet, and the woman’s name has not been released.
