A charity event in England took a frightening turn when a food truck exploded, sending five people to the hospital — including four staff members working the event.

The blast happened around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at The Lambing Shed Farm Shop and Kitchen, also known as Moseley Hall Farm, in Knutsford, about 20 miles south of Manchester.

The event was being held in support of the North West Air Ambulance Charity when a gas canister inside a food truck reportedly exploded, according to Cheshire Police.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and treated five people before transporting them to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious. The investigation has since been handed over to the Health and Safety Executive.

The farm later confirmed on Facebook that the explosion involved “our food truck” and that four members of their team were injured.

“They are currently receiving medical care and are being supported by their families,” the statement read. “We are extremely grateful to the emergency responders for their swift and professional assistance.”

Out of caution, the venue canceled the second day of the sold-out Big Machine Weekend event and closed other amenities to focus on the wellbeing of staff.

“Our thoughts are with our injured colleagues and everyone affected,” the farm added. “We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as they look into what happened and will share further updates when appropriate.”

Big Machine Weekend had drawn families for a ticketed celebration featuring large tractors, heavy machinery displays, a bouncy castle and a variety of food and drink options.

One attendee, Daniella Grainger-Leigh, said she was there with her two young children when the explosion happened.

“It was pretty scary and I think a fair few people [were] shook up,” she wrote online. “My boys were, my older one still not himself. Heart goes out to the people injured. I wish them a speedy recovery.”

The Lambing Shed is a family-run business operated by owners Michael and Sue, along with their daughter Kathryn.
