A former reality TV star’s sudden death overseas is raising questions as loved ones mourn a life cut short.

Jordan Wright, 33, who appeared on The Only Way Is Essex and Ex on the Beach, was found dead in a drainage ditch in Thailand, according to a coroner’s inquest.

The Essex native had been spending time in Phuket when his body was discovered on March 14 in the Choeng Thale area. Authorities confirmed his death at around 12:30 p.m. local time before his body was later returned to the U.K.

An inquest held in Chelmsford has now been opened but adjourned until September 14, as officials wait for further details. A post-mortem examination was carried out on April 13 at Basildon Hospital, but investigators are still awaiting toxicology results and an official report from Thailand to determine exactly what happened.

Senior Essex coroner Lincoln Brookes offered his “deepest condolences” to Wright’s family and friends as the investigation continues.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Wright had been sharing glimpses of his time abroad on social media, posting videos of himself scuba diving and riding motorbikes around Phuket.

Following the heartbreaking news, tributes poured in from fellow reality TV stars.

Chloe Brockett, who also appeared on TOWIE, shared a simple message: “Rest in peace Jordan,” while former Love Island contestant Chloe Crowhurst echoed the sentiment.

Other friends were left stunned. TOWIE castmate Liam “Gatsby” Blackwell wrote, “Miss you already brother,” and Ex on the Beach’s Brandon Myers added, “Lost for words… amazing memories with you mate.”

A spokesperson for TOWIE also released a statement, saying everyone connected to the show sends their “deepest sympathies” to Wright’s loved ones during this difficult time.

At the time of his death, the U.K. Foreign Office confirmed it was supporting Wright’s family and working with local authorities in Thailand.
