A terrifying school bus incident has left a young boy traumatized after his arm became trapped in the door—and the bus kept moving.
According to his mother, 12-year-old Nathaniel was getting off a bus in Wheelers Hill on the morning of March 16 when things suddenly went wrong.
She says the driver closed the rear door before Nathaniel had fully stepped off, trapping his backpack and right arm inside. Moments later, the bus pulled away—while the boy was still stuck.
With no way to free himself, Nathaniel was dragged alongside the moving bus for about 350 yards.
His mother shared video footage showing the frightening moment, where the boy is seen hanging on with one arm while lifting his legs off the ground to avoid being pulled under or hit by nearby cars.
“He had to hold himself up and keep his legs off the road,” she said, describing how close he came to serious injury.
The bus, operated by Ventura Bus Lines, eventually stopped at the next stop, where the driver opened the door and freed him.
While Nathaniel survived the ordeal, his mother says the experience has had lasting effects. The boy, who had only recently started taking the bus alone, is now dealing with anxiety and no longer feels safe traveling by himself. He has since begun seeing a psychologist.
Ventura Bus Lines issued an apology to the family and launched an internal investigation. The company later confirmed the driver was fired following the incident and said it would continue to support the family.
The shocking footage also caught the attention of Jacinta Allan, who called it deeply distressing and said her thoughts are with the boy and his family.
