A simple glass of orange juice has exploded into a disturbing legal showdown, after an Oregon woman claims she unknowingly swallowed something straight out of a horror story.

Julee O’Neil has filed a lawsuit against Trader Joe’s, alleging she accidentally ingested a severed human fingertip that was inside a bottle of orange juice she was drinking.

According to the complaint, filed Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court and first reported by Law & Crime, O’Neil is seeking $10,000 in damages along with legal fees. The filing claims the incident happened in June 2025, when she was finishing the drink and suddenly noticed something unusual in her mouth.

“O’Neil was finishing the said orange juice when she felt like there was a large piece of pulp in her mouth,” the complaint states.

What happened next, according to court documents, quickly turned into a nightmare. O’Neil reportedly gagged, became nauseated, and experienced a burning sensation in her mouth. The lawsuit alleges she had unknowingly swallowed what she later discovered to be a severed human fingertip. Even more shocking, the filing claims the fingertip had a piece of a rubber glove still attached.

The complaint says O’Neil later sought medical treatment at an urgent care clinic following the incident.

The lawsuit does not explain how the alleged fingertip ended up inside the product, but it claims the ordeal caused both physical symptoms and emotional distress.

Before filing the lawsuit, O’Neil reportedly sent written notice to Trader Joe’s requesting a settlement. However, the complaint alleges the company “failed, refused, or neglected” to pay the requested amount.

As of now, Trader Joe’s has not publicly responded to the allegations.

The case is currently pending in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
