A devastating overnight plane crash in Texas has left five people dead, with officials now working to piece together what caused the aircraft to go down.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a crash in the 200 block of Round Rock Road in Wimberley, a small community southwest of Austin. When first responders arrived, they found wreckage from a small aircraft that had gone down with multiple people on board.

Authorities say the plane has been identified as a Cessna 421C, a twin-engine aircraft that was carrying five passengers at the time of the crash. Tragically, all five individuals on board were killed.

Early details from the investigation suggest the plane was traveling at a high rate of speed before it crashed. However, officials have not found any signs of a midair collision, ruling out one possible cause as they continue digging into what happened in those final moments.

At the same time, another aircraft that had been flying in the same general area was able to land safely at New Braunfels Airport without any issues, adding another layer of mystery to the incident.

Investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board are now leading the probe into the crash, working alongside federal aviation officials to determine the exact cause.

So far, the identities of the five victims have not been released as authorities focus on notifying their families.

Officials from both the Federal Aviation Administration and the NTSB have been contacted for further comment, but no additional details have been made public.

As investigators comb through the wreckage and analyze flight data, the small Texas community is left reeling from a tragedy that unfolded in the darkness—and the unanswered questions that remain.
