A routine morning at an Oregon ski resort turned into a heartbreaking tragedy when a maintenance accident sent two workers crashing to the ground.

Authorities say the terrifying incident happened just before 9:30 a.m. on April 30 at Mt. Hood Skibowl in Government Camp. A maintenance basket carrying two employees suddenly fell from a chairlift into rough, hard-to-reach terrain below.

Both workers suffered severe injuries in the سقوط. When emergency crews arrived, one of the employees was unconscious, and a third person at the scene immediately began performing CPR.

Multiple rescue teams rushed to the mountain, setting up a command post at the base while navigating the difficult terrain. Specialized equipment, including an ATV, was brought in to reach the victims as quickly as possible.

By the time medics made it to the scene shortly after 10 a.m., one worker was still conscious and breathing. Tragically, the other had no pulse and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The surviving employee was airlifted by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where they remain in serious condition.

Officials say the incident is now being investigated as a workplace death, with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration stepping in to determine exactly what went wrong.

The resort has not released many details, saying its focus right now is on supporting the families and employees affected by the devastating loss.

For the tight-knit mountain community, the impact is already being felt. Local officials say news like this spreads quickly in a small town—and the emotional toll can be overwhelming.
