A terrifying scene unfolded inside a Bronx McDonald’s on Sunday afternoon after an angry customer allegedly stabbed an employee during a heated confrontation over a refund, according to police and law enforcement sources.
The violence broke out just after 1 p.m. inside the McDonald’s on West Mount Eden Avenue near Jerome Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood.
Authorities say the customer became enraged while demanding a refund for his order, causing tensions inside the fast-food restaurant to rapidly escalate.
At some point during the confrontation, the customer allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the employee in the torso.
Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of the violent attack. The wounded worker was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Investigators described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a gray sweater and blue jeans.
According to police, the alleged attacker fled the restaurant immediately after the stabbing and was last seen running along Mount Eden Avenue toward the Grand Concourse.
As of Monday, authorities had not announced any arrests, and the suspect remained on the loose.
The shocking attack left customers and workers rattled and added to growing concerns about violence faced by fast-food employees during disputes with customers.
Representatives for McDonald’s did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the incident.
