Kali Blundell with her husband Brandon and daughter Ruby

A young mom who should have been spending precious time with her baby girl instead suffered a devastating medical emergency that ended her life far too soon.

Kali Blundell, a 32-year-old woman from Sydney, died after suffering a sudden brain aneurysm while working out at a gym during her maternity leave, according to reports from Australia.

The tragedy unfolded in mid-April, just five months after Kali welcomed her daughter Ruby into the world. She fought for more than a week surrounded by doctors, nurses, and loved ones before ultimately passing away.

Now, her husband Brandon — her high school sweetheart whom she had known since she was just 15 years old — is left grieving the unimaginable loss while caring for their infant daughter alone.

Friends and family described Kali as “ambitious and full of life,” saying her sudden death has shattered everyone who knew her.

A fundraiser created to support Brandon and baby Ruby painted a heartbreaking picture of a woman who embraced life to the fullest.

“Kali was on maternity leave, meant to be one of the most joyous occasions when she suffered a brain aneurysm,” the fundraiser read. “Brandon and Ruby should have so many more years with Kali, and now face an incredibly heartbreaking new reality without her here.”

Loved ones said Kali was the kind of person who never turned down an adventure. She loved traveling the world, saying yes to spontaneous plans, and making memories with the people closest to her.

“She was one of the firsts to say yes to spontaneity, embracing the world with open arms,” the fundraiser stated.

Friends also remembered her as incredibly intelligent and hardworking — someone people could always turn to for advice and support.

“Kali was incredibly smart, and someone you could turn to for advice. She worked incredibly hard and never shied away from a challenge,” loved ones wrote.

Even in death, Kali continued helping others. Reports say her organs were donated to five people in need, giving several families hope in the middle of tragedy.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm occurs when a weakened blood vessel in the brain bulges or balloons outward. While many aneurysms never cause symptoms, a rupture can quickly become life-threatening and requires emergency medical treatment.

Kali’s loved ones say her loss has left “an unimaginable void” that can never truly be filled.
