Trump’s Former Spiritual Advisor James Robison Dies at 82

James Robison, the longtime televangelist, LIFE Today host, and former spiritual advisor to President Donald Trump, has died at 82.

Life Outreach International announced his death in a statement, remembering him as a beloved preacher who spent his life spreading his faith and helping people around the world.

“It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Rev. James Robison, the beloved founder of Life Outreach International,” the organization said. “James devoted his life to sharing the Gospel and bringing hope, help, and healing to those in need around the world.”

The statement continued, “Though we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life faithfully lived in service to God and others.”

A cause of death was not disclosed.

Robison, a California native, began his preaching career on Christian television in 1968 and eventually became one of the most recognizable televangelists in America.

He was best known for hosting LIFE Today on Trinity Broadcasting Network alongside his wife, Betty. The program helped turn him into a major figure in Christian media beginning in the 1990s.

Over the years, Robison also wrote books, toured the country, and built a large online following through The Stream, a news and commentary platform he launched in 2015.

His influence eventually reached the White House.

Robison served as a spiritual advisor to Trump during his first administration and later claimed the president would call him several times a day. But he also admitted Trump did not always follow his guidance.

“He heard, but he didn’t always heed,” Robison said during a 2022 speech, where he compared Trump’s behavior at times to that of a “little elementary schoolchild.”

Robison’s view of Trump later shifted. After Trump’s 2024 victory, the preacher called the win a “miracle” for the country.

Robison leaves behind his wife, Betty, their three children, and 11 grandchildren.

For supporters, he will be remembered as a towering voice in Christian broadcasting. For others, his close ties to politics made him one of the more talked-about religious figures of the Trump era.
