Kyle Busch’s Lawyer Fires Back at Wild Rumors After NASCAR Star’s Sudden Death

Kyle Busch’s lawyer is pushing back hard against the ugly conspiracy theories that exploded online after the NASCAR legend’s shocking death at just 41 years old.

Busch died on May 21 after bacterial pneumonia turned into sepsis, a fast-moving and deadly medical emergency that reportedly led to blood clots, organ failure and a devastating final decline. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s death stunned the racing world, especially because he had competed just days earlier.

But in the days after his death, some online critics began tying the tragedy to a recently settled lawsuit involving Busch, his wife Samantha, and Pacific Life Insurance Company.

Now, attorney Robert Rikard is trying to crush those rumors before they spread any further.

The speculation centered on a lawsuit Kyle and Samantha Busch filed against Pacific Life, accusing the company of misleading them into purchasing life insurance policies that allegedly cost them more than $10.4 million in premiums. The couple claimed they suffered major financial losses after being sold policies they said did not perform as promised. The dispute was settled out of court earlier this year, with the terms kept confidential.

After Busch’s sudden death, rumors began circulating on social media suggesting the family had been advised to walk away from valuable life insurance coverage before he died.

Rikard says that is flat-out false.

“The Busch family did not walk away from their coverage. They replaced it with better coverage,” Rikard wrote in a statement shared on LinkedIn, according to reports. “The suggestion that they were advised by anyone to abandon tens of millions in death benefit protection is a fabrication, and those repeating it know it is.”

According to Rikard, two policies had no value before the litigation and were terminated, while the remaining policies were replaced with better coverage under professional guidance. He blasted the online claims as a “false narrative” and warned that the rumors were reckless and damaging.

Busch’s final hours were heartbreakingly sudden.

Reports say he was admitted to the hospital on May 20 after being found unresponsive while using a racing simulator. Within hours, his condition spiraled as sepsis ravaged his body. His death certificate reportedly listed sepsis stemming from bacterial pneumonia as the cause of death.

The loss sent shockwaves through NASCAR, where Busch was known as one of the most dominant and polarizing drivers of his generation. He won Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019 and built a historic career with more than 230 wins across NASCAR’s top three national series.

Busch is survived by his wife, Samantha, their 11-year-old son, and their 4-year-old daughter.

For his family, the grief has now been compounded by online rumors at the worst possible time.

Rikard’s message was clear: the Busch family did not lose coverage because of bad advice, and the conspiracy theories surrounding the insurance settlement are not true.

As NASCAR continues to mourn one of its biggest stars, Busch’s loved ones are left facing an unimaginable loss — and a fight to protect his name from the rumor mill.
