A Carnival cruise passenger accused of punching two children while they played tag in a ship’s hallway has been arrested on two counts of child abuse.
David Crosby II, 44, allegedly struck the children aboard the Carnival Glory on Sunday, July 26, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Authorities said three children were playing tag in one of the ship’s hallways while Crosby was running nearby. He then “suddenly stopped running and struck” two members of the group, the affidavit alleged.
One child was reportedly punched in the face, leaving the youngster with a bloody lip and head pain. A second child was allegedly hit in the stomach and complained of abdominal pain.
Investigators said the encounter was captured by the ship’s security cameras.
Crosby reportedly told authorities that he could not remember what happened. The affidavit described him as “heavily intoxicated” at the time of the alleged incident.
Officials have not released the children’s ages or disclosed whether they are related to Crosby.
The Georgia man was arrested on Monday, July 27, and booked into the Brevard County Jail on two counts of child abuse.
Crosby was released the following day after posting a $20,000 bond. He appeared in court on Wednesday, July 29, and pleaded not guilty, according to court records.
His arraignment is scheduled for August 25.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the case. The allegations against Crosby have not been proven in court.
