A 21-year-old Wisconsin woman has been charged after authorities say she stabbed her mother at least 10 times during a violent argument in the parking lot of a Georgia Chick-fil-A.
Shyanniah Ma’Ree Johnson is accused of attacking her 39-year-old mother Thursday afternoon after an argument that began while the family was driving along Interstate 75, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Johnson, her mother and two children were inside the vehicle when tensions suddenly boiled over.
At some point, the group pulled off the interstate and into a Chick-fil-A parking lot along Highway 92.
That is where deputies say the argument turned violent.
Johnson allegedly attacked her mother, leaving her with at least 10 stab wounds.
Johnson was also injured in the leg during the altercation, authorities said.
After the attack, Johnson’s mother managed to get away and ran inside the Chick-fil-A for help.
Johnson then allegedly drove off with the two children still in the vehicle.
She was later stopped by authorities in Whitfield County.
The children were not injured and were placed in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services.
Johnson’s mother was taken to a hospital for treatment and has since been released.
Johnson remained hospitalized while recovering from her own injuries.
She has been charged with aggravated assault under Georgia’s Family Violence Act.
Authorities have not said what sparked the original argument.
The investigation remains ongoing.
