Three people were found dead inside a Dallas home and a fourth was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but authorities still do not know what happened.
Dallas police and firefighters responded to a home in the 2700 block of Burger Avenue early Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, after receiving a medical call.
When officers arrived, they found four people unconscious inside the property.
Dallas Fire-Rescue determined that three of them were already dead.
The fourth person was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Police said the case remains under investigation and is currently being treated as an “unexplained death.”
One of the people who died has been identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner as 31-year-old Martin Rodela Jr., according to WFAA.
The identities of the other two people who died have not yet been released.
Authorities have also not released the identity or condition update of the person who survived.
A Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson said crews were dispatched for a medical emergency but could not provide additional details because of patient privacy laws.
What caused the mysterious deaths remains unclear.
Neighbors told NBC 5 that there appeared to have been some type of party in the area before emergency crews arrived.
However, investigators reportedly found no obvious explanation inside the home.
According to WFAA, citing a police source, officers did not find drug paraphernalia at the scene.
There were also reportedly no visible signs of trauma or foul play.
Investigators did not find evidence of a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning either, according to the report.
That has left authorities searching for answers as they try to determine why four people were found unconscious at the same location and why three of them died.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to play a key role in determining the causes of death.
As of the latest update, officials had not announced what killed the three victims or what caused the fourth person to become critically ill.
The investigation remains ongoing.
