Stranger Bites Piece of Woman’s Face Off in Terrifying Attack

A Seattle woman says a completely random trip to a convenience store turned into a horrifying attack that left her needing a skin graft after a stranger allegedly bit a chunk from her forehead.

Diana Gonzalez, 36, was walking toward a 7-Eleven in downtown Seattle when she encountered Kamilia Chadli, according to police and local reports.

Authorities say the confrontation began when Chadli allegedly threw a food wrapper at Gonzalez.

When Gonzalez questioned her, Chadli allegedly spit at her and began shouting racist and homophobic insults.

What happened next was far more violent.

Police say Chadli allegedly attacked Gonzalez, pulled her to the ground and bit into her forehead with enough force to remove a piece of skin.

A witness nearby eventually stepped in and separated the two women before pursuing Chadli as she allegedly fled.

Seattle police later took Chadli into custody.

Gonzalez was rushed to the hospital, where doctors treated a serious wound to her forehead.

“This was a totally random attack,” Gonzalez told NBC 16.

She said the encounter escalated almost instantly after the woman allegedly began throwing trash and yelling insults.

Then came the bite.

“She bit a piece of my face off,” Gonzalez said.

The injury was so severe that Gonzalez said seeing it for the first time reminded her of something from a horror movie.

She described it as looking like a “zombie bite.”

Police said the missing section of skin was roughly an inch in diameter. Investigators later reportedly recovered a piece of flesh from a nearby grate that they believe Chadli had spit out.

Gonzalez ultimately required a skin graft to repair the wound and is expected to be left with permanent injuries to her forehead.

The attack occurred while Gonzalez was simply trying to grab a drink during her workday.

Police initially booked Chadli into the King County Jail on suspicion of a hate crime.

King County prosecutors ultimately charged her with felony second-degree assault. The alleged racist and homophobic statements remain part of the reported circumstances surrounding the attack, but she was not charged with a separate hate-crime offense in the information cited by local media.

Chadli remained jailed on $150,000 bail, with an arraignment scheduled for Sept. 28.

Gonzalez said she wants the criminal case taken seriously and hopes the woman accused of attacking her receives both punishment and mental-health treatment if appropriate.

Her biggest fear is that someone else could become a victim.

“I’m just concerned that she would do it again because it was so random,” Gonzalez said.

Even after undergoing medical treatment, Gonzalez said she is still struggling to comprehend the brutality of what happened.

“I can’t believe she bit a piece of my face off,” she said.
