Chaos Erupts on Plane as Passengers Tackle Man During Violent Fight Over Luggage (Video)

A dispute over overhead luggage space turned into a terrifying confrontation aboard a passenger plane in Colombia, where travelers were forced to physically restrain an enraged man after he allegedly grabbed another passenger by the throat just moments before takeoff.

Shocking video from the aircraft at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá shows the confrontation spiraling out of control as passengers desperately try to separate the two men.

The trouble reportedly began when one traveler attempted to place his carry-on bag in an overhead compartment, apparently angering another passenger.

Within seconds, the argument turned physical.

Footage shows a man wearing a dark jacket leaning over the seat in front of him and grabbing the passenger sitting there, reportedly around the neck.

The seated traveler, believed to be a Mexican national, struggles to free himself, using his arms and what appears to be an airline magazine to push the man away.

But the confrontation continues for several agonizing seconds as other passengers attempt to intervene.

One traveler eventually grabs the aggressor by the hood of his jacket and pulls him away from the seated man, who turns toward the camera looking visibly shaken.

The situation quickly escalates into a struggle in the aisle, with another passenger joining the effort to subdue the man.

Together, they wrestle him away from the other travelers before forcing him into an empty row of seats, where one passenger pins him down to prevent the confrontation from continuing.

The chaotic struggle lasts approximately 20 seconds, leaving nearby passengers stunned by how quickly an ordinary disagreement over luggage space turned into a frightening scene.

Cabin crew reportedly intervened and requested police assistance. Separate footage circulated by news outlets appears to show officers struggling with a man believed to have been involved in the altercation.

The identities of those involved have not been officially confirmed, and authorities have not publicly established whether anyone suffered serious injuries or whether criminal charges were filed.

The airline operating the flight and its scheduled destination were also not confirmed in the initial reports.

The disturbing incident is the latest example of an increasingly familiar problem for airlines: arguments between passengers escalating into violence inside crowded aircraft.

In February, a separate confrontation aboard a Jet2 flight traveling from Antalya, Turkey, to Manchester, England, became so serious that the pilot diverted the aircraft to Brussels.

Video from that incident showed passengers fighting in the aisle as frightened travelers and crew members tried to restore order.

Witnesses alleged that the altercation followed disruptive behavior, including racist remarks, and escalated after a dispute involving a cellphone.

Police boarded the plane after its emergency landing and detained two passengers before the flight eventually continued to Manchester.
