For most Democrats or Republicans, politics is about pushing a specific agenda to make the country more like their vision. For Liz Cheney, hating Donald Trumps seems to be the only important topic of discussion.
Rep. Liz Cheney is wasting no time beginning the next phase of her bid to prevent Donald Trump’s return to office.
“In coming weeks, Liz will be launching an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic, and to mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president,” Cheney spokesperson Jeremy Adler told Playbook exclusively.
The new group, which will serve as Cheney’s (R-Wyo.) primary political vehicle as she considers whether to run for president in 2024, does not have an official name yet. An informed guess: The Great Task, which was the name of Cheney’s final ad of the campaign.
The phrase is from the last sentence of the Gettysburg Address, and Cheney also referenced it in her concession speech from Jackson, Wyo., on Tuesday night.
Cheney’s campaign filed paperwork early Monday converting her campaign committee to a leadership PAC and renaming it “The Great Task.” The move will allow Cheney to continue raising money and potentially distribute it to like-minded candidates in the near term while she hashes out a longer-term strategy.
Speaking on NBC’s “Today” show on Wednesday, Cheney said a 2024 presidential run was “something I am thinking about” and promised a decision in the “coming months.”
“I believe that Donald Trump continues to pose a very grave threat and risk to our republic,” she said. “And I think that defeating him is going to require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents, and that’s what I intend to be part of.”
Cheney, who was seeking a fourth term, was defeated by Harriet Hageman, an attorney and former Cheney supporter who Trump selected last year as his chosen candidate to oppose her. Cheney’s vote to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection, her vocal defense of that vote and her leadership role on the House committee investigating the attacks and Trump’s actions made her Trump’s top political target in the midterms.
Liz and Nancy sure like to throw those threats around and they get away with it. If that were us we would be investigated. I personally think they need to be investigated and be made to answer for everything they have done. Using Jan 6 th as a decoy to slip Different bills in to be passed that otherwise would not be passed. The whole administration is corrupt. So its time to drop the bs and and make them answer.
AGREE, make them Pay
And what is it that they have done? If a opposing the narcissistic, misogynistic, corrupt, eternal liar (over 30,000 as president alone), pandering to dictators ( Kim Jung, Putin, Erdogan, et al), attempting to destroy our alliance with most of Europe thru his efforts to push us out of NATO, completely and utterly delusional fixation on the “Big Lie” that he won the 2020 election ( in fact, he absolutely believed it was stolen from him – without ANY evidence to even remotely support that delusion, who abetted and supported the 6 Jan insurrection and attempted to completely destroy our constitution (which he took an oath to support and defend – yet another lie this time sworn over a Bible), and he took significant numbers of highly classified documents which should never have left the White House to Mara-logo and then LIED that he had them and when confronted LIED that he had declassified them ( which, particularly in the case of the numerous TS/SCI documents he had ABSOLUTELY no authority to do so…[and much more]that is DJTrump- I would sincerely hope that those going to his rallies and funding his treasonous efforts would really look at the disaster they are continuing to foster on America. After the LEGAL FBI suspend search, any other person in America would be in jail – no bail – awaiting his trial for treason. The FBI must indict Trump immediately for the multiple criminal acts ( including lying to the FBI) that were uncovered during that LEGAL search.
