After over four decades as the beloved host of the iconic game show Wheel of Fortune, Pat Sajak recently announced his forthcoming retirement. Sajak will host one final season before transitioning behind the scenes as a consultant, while a new host takes over. Meanwhile, the future of co-host Vanna White remains uncertain, with reports suggesting two different outcomes for her tenure on the show.

Fans have long wondered what Sajak’s retirement would mean for White, and speculation has intensified since an insider dropped behind-the-scenes details about Wheel of Fortune. According to the source, Sajak was earning around $15 million per season, while White’s salary was approximately $3 million. The outlet claims that White has not received a traditional raise in 18 years and is now seeking an increase in her compensation. To navigate her future on the show, White has enlisted the services of attorney Bryan Freedman, known for his recent representation of Tucker Carlson during his exit from Fox News. Discussions are currently underway with Sony, the show’s production company, to extend White’s contract, considering she is a decade younger than Sajak.

However, it remains uncertain whether Sony will offer White a higher salary or even want her to continue with the show. Rumors suggest that some within the production team are more focused on attracting a high-profile new host, potentially someone like Ryan Seacrest. If a new host is brought on board, there is speculation that it could be an opportune time to part ways with White and initiate a complete reboot of the show. Such a move could provide cost savings, especially if White is seeking a significant pay raise, and would mark a clear distinction between two distinct eras of Wheel of Fortune.

Nevertheless, sources close to the show report that negotiations are ongoing to retain White. With Wheel of Fortune being a long-standing cash cow, there are many supporters within Sony who believe a clear transition is not the best approach. They emphasize the importance of maintaining stability to keep viewers engaged and loyal to the show. It is worth noting that Vanna White is adored by Wheel of Fortune fans worldwide.

Losing both Pat Sajak and Vanna White simultaneously could potentially be detrimental to the show’s success. Many other syndicated programs have successfully implemented gradual evolutions, such as Jeopardy! with the introduction of Ken Jennings as co-host and the transitions of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee to its current format. Fans of Wheel of Fortune are eager to witness the outcome, hoping to see Vanna White return to the show and be duly compensated for the decades of joy she has brought to audiences.

As the future unfolds, only time will reveal whether Vanna White will continue illuminating the stage and which path Wheel of Fortune will embark upon without Pat Sajak.

  1. For crying out loud, the woman walks and claps on a service that can be automated by computer and has been milking a VERY EASY job for many years! The Price is Right models do FAR MORE for their salaries!
I know how to save the show $3 million dollars off the top immediately. Give it a rest Vanna! Retire and stop making a fool out of yourself!

    1. Pat’s daughter Maggie should be new hostess and Vanna is getting 3 million a year to do less work than in the past. Be happy and content Vanna.
