Family members of two Israeli boys freed from Hamas captivity have shockingly revealed horrific details of the mistreatment the boys endured during their weeks-long ordeal in Gaza. According to their uncle Yaniv Yaakov, the sons, Yagil Yaakov, 12, and Or Yaakov, 16, suffered terrible abuse, including being branded like animals.
Branding and Abuse: Yaniv Yaakov revealed that the terrorists branded the boys with a motorbike exhaust pipe, making sure they had a noticeable burn on their legs as a terrible way to identify them in the event that they managed to flee. There have been stories of drugging and harsh brutality, so the branding was only one aspect of the horrifying treatment they suffered.
These information were verified by former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who emphasized that the young detainees were left with permanent scars from the use of boiling hot motorcycle exhaust. The boys’ leg scars provided as proof of the violent branding.
Other Torture Accounts: Other liberated hostages have also shared accounts of torture and agony, adding to the graphic narrative from Gaza. 21-year-old Mia Schem was wounded in the arm during the Nova music festival; she was treated by a Palestinian veterinarian while being held captive and had to bear the agony.
Five of the released captives’ relatives, Moran Aloni, disclosed that the terrorists frequently withheld food, only giving it occasionally to keep the hostages alive. Other methods used to reduce hostage morale included psychological manipulation and severing ties with family members.
Forcible Viewing of Horrors: Eitan Yahalomi’s 12-year-old aunt, Deborah Cohen, related how the terrorists taunted, abused, and made him watch uncut video of their October 7 atrocities while holding a gun to his head. The psychological damage the kids sustained serves as even more evidence of how cruel their confinement was.
Impact on Hostages: Medical personnel tending to the freed hostages spoke of the psychological and physical toll that their living arrangements with Hamas in Gaza had taken on them. Many of the hostages lost up to 15% of their body weight over the 50 days of captivity, according to Dr. Yael Mozer Glassberg, underscoring the appalling conditions they were subjected to.
A Call for Awareness: Dr. Itai Pessach stressed the importance of drawing attention to Hamas’s wicked and brutal actions and called for international acknowledgement of the anguish that the captives have endured. It is demanded of the international community to denounce these acts and endeavor to secure the release of the remaining captives held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.
