Gadi Haggai, a 73-year-old musician and former IDF Orchestra flautist, was tragically murdered by terrorists, who are still believed to be holding his 70-year-old wife, Judi Weinstein. The news was confirmed by the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum representing the families involved.

Known for his humor and musical talents, Gadi’s life was cut short in the attack, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. The Israeli Defense Forces informed Haggai’s family about his death, but Judi Weinstein remains missing.

During the Oct. 7 attack near Kibbutz Nir Oz, Gadi and Judi were ambushed by radical Hamas terrorists. Despite being shot, Weinstein managed to call for help, reporting injuries to her arm and face and Gadi’s severe head wound. Unfortunately, Gadi’s body is still in Palestinian territory.

Despite efforts by paramedics and the family’s frantic search for information, contact with the couple was lost after Weinstein’s distress call. The phone was later found by the Israeli military, raising hopes that they might have been among the hostages, but it was confirmed that Gadi had died in captivity.

Gadi Haggai leaves behind a legacy of musical contributions and is survived by four children and seven grandchildren. Our thoughts go out to the Haggai family during this heartbreaking time.
