Barbra Streisand is stirring the pot again with eyebrow-raising comments about her decades-old fling with Hollywood heartthrob Warren Beatty — and let’s just say, not everyone is thrilled about it.
In a recent candid moment, the 83-year-old icon admitted she’s fuzzy on the most intimate detail of her time with Beatty.
“I know I slept in the bed with him, but I can’t remember if we actually had penetration,” she confessed. “I swear to God, I can’t. There are certain things I block out.”
Yes, she really said that.
This isn’t the first time Streisand has publicly reminisced about her rumored hook-up with the now-88-year-old “Dick Tracy” actor. In her 2023 memoir My Name Is Barbra, she described Beatty as “tall with movie-star looks” and admitted to calling him “one of my flings” in a 1977 Playboy interview — though she later downplayed the comment as just playing the part of a worldly woman.
“I kind of remember. I guess I did. Probably once,” she wrote, trying to piece together whether the two really did the deed.
But while Streisand seems comfortable dishing the details, Beatty’s wife, actress Annette Bening, is reportedly less amused. A source claims Bening is “exhausted” by Barbra’s repeated name-drops and finds the whole thing unnecessary.
“Bening doesn’t feel threatened by Barbra,” the insider explained, “but it’s like, why does she keep bringing this up? It feels like a cry for attention. And James Brolin probably isn’t exactly loving it either.”
Barbra met Beatty when she was just 16 and he was 21, performing at the Clinton Playhouse in Connecticut. She described him as having an instant effect on women — even then. Their flirtation predated her marriage to Elliott Gould and her long-term relationship with Brolin, whom she married in 1998.
As for Beatty, he famously held onto his bachelor status until settling down with Bening in 1992.
Despite the awkwardness, Streisand says she and Beatty are still on friendly terms.
“Every year on my birthday, he calls me, and we have a wonderful talk about our lives, our children, and so forth,” she shared.
Whether you find her stories nostalgic or cringe-worthy, one thing’s for sure — Barbra’s not done talking, and the past isn’t staying in the past.
