Epstein’s Longtime Butler Says He ‘Would Never Have Killed Himself’

Valdson Vieira Cotrin, who managed Epstein’s Paris mansion for 18 years, told The Telegraph he doesn’t buy the official story that Epstein died by suicide while in prison. Cotrin said Epstein “loved life too much” and was confident he would soon be granted bail.

Cotrin, who was Epstein’s chauffeur, cook, and housekeeper, said he was the only full-time employee at Epstein’s Paris home from 2001 until Epstein’s death in 2019. “If someone could have seen something, it’s Valdson. There’s no one else,” he said.

He also dismissed claims of wrongdoing at the mansion. Young women were hired to give Epstein massages and cut his nails, but “it stopped there,” Cotrin said. “If something abnormal, scary, or abusive happened, I would have called the police. But I saw nothing.”

Epstein was found dead in his New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was officially ruled a suicide, but conspiracy theories and doubts about the circumstances have swirled ever since.

Recent polls show about half of Americans now believe Epstein was murdered—a sharp rise from earlier this year. Meanwhile, the FBI and DOJ maintain that Epstein took his own life, citing video footage and a thorough investigation.

Epstein’s fortune was vast, with reported assets topping $559 million, including multimillion-dollar properties across the U.S. and abroad. His rise to wealth began in the late 1970s in finance, eventually founding his own firms and investing heavily in hedge funds and private equity.

Despite all the controversy, Cotrin says Epstein “is not the man they say he was” and insists he “loved life too much” to end it himself.

The DOJ and FBI recently stated no further disclosures related to Epstein will be made, closing the chapter on one of the most debated cases of recent years.
