President Donald Trump is touting another major victory in his war on drugs after ordering a lethal strike that killed three “narcoterrorists” moving fentanyl and cocaine through the Caribbean Sea.
On Friday night, the president announced on Truth Social that he directed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to take action against a vessel traveling a notorious smuggling route. The strike, carried out in international waters, destroyed the boat and eliminated all three men on board. No U.S. forces were harmed.
It marks the third successful strike in less than a month. Earlier this week, another three traffickers were taken out, and earlier in September, U.S. forces killed 11 more as part of Trump’s escalating push to shut down cartels before their poison reaches American streets.
“On my Orders, the Secretary of War ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility,” Trump wrote. He ended his statement in all caps: “STOP SELLING FENTANYL, NARCOTICS, AND ILLEGAL DRUGS IN AMERICA, AND COMMITTING VIOLENCE AND TERRORISM AGAINST AMERICANS!!!”
Video released alongside the announcement appears to show the moment the boat was destroyed from the air, erupting into flames. While critics have questioned earlier footage, Trump has insisted there’s no doubt the vessels were loaded with narcotics. “We have proof,” he said Monday. “All you have to do is look at the cargo that was spattered all over the ocean—big bags of cocaine and fentanyl all over the place.”
Hegseth, whom Trump renamed “Secretary of War,” made clear that the United States has “absolute and complete authority” to strike traffickers anywhere in the world. “Our job is the defense of the American people,” he told reporters.
Naturally, critics in Washington and the media rushed to condemn the actions. Legal scholars complained about “international law,” and Democrats like Senator Jack Reed claimed there was “no evidence” the traffickers posed a threat. But Vice President JD Vance fired back at the naysayers in Michigan this week: “I don’t give a s–t,” he said bluntly, joking that traffickers are now so scared they won’t even go fishing in the Caribbean.
For Trump and his supporters, the message is clear: America is finally going on offense. After years of fentanyl pouring across the border, this administration is showing the cartels that they will be hunted down before their deadly cargo ever reaches U.S. shores.
