Marjorie Taylor Greene, once one of Donald Trump’s fiercest defenders, is now publicly turning her fire on the president and his party over the government shutdown that has left millions of Americans in limbo.
The Georgia congresswoman, 51, stunned Republicans this week when she told InfoWars that the shutdown was “a political fight and drama” that never should have happened.
“This doesn’t have to be happening,” Greene declared. “The Senate can use the nuclear option and pass the bill with a simple majority. Instead, we’re forcing TSA agents, air traffic controllers, and even soldiers to work without pay. And single moms? Their WIC benefits are frozen. That’s outrageous.”
The comments mark one of the sharpest breaks yet between Greene and the president, 79, whose second term has been marked by escalating confrontations with both Democrats and his own party.
Greene, long a symbol of MAGA loyalty, has increasingly clashed with the White House since Trump refused to release the long-promised “Epstein files.” She accused the administration of backtracking on a pledge that galvanized conspiracy-minded voters who demanded to see what government investigators had uncovered about disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
“I campaigned for him very hard, but I am frustrated that we aren’t passing bills to make his policies permanent,” Greene told the far-right outlet.
Her frustration reflects a wider reality. A Washington Post poll this week found that most Americans blame the GOP for the shutdown — a damning statistic considering Republicans control the White House, Senate, and House.
The Trump administration has tried to blame Democrats, accusing them of demanding “free healthcare for illegals.” But federal law is clear: undocumented immigrants are barred from buying Obamacare plans, receiving subsidies, or accessing Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP.
“Vulnerable Americans shouldn’t pay the price because of politics in Washington, D.C.,” Greene said. “Republicans need to grow some courage and a spine.”
The outburst is the latest crack in the fragile MAGA coalition. Greene has already enraged White House aides by demanding full transparency on Epstein, and by opposing continued U.S. military aid to Israel.
“She’s crossed a line with Trumpworld,” one Republican strategist told the Daily Beast. “You don’t survive long in MAGA if you call out the president publicly. She’s daring him to push her out.”
Yet Greene seems unfazed. In a separate interview with The New York Times last month, she brushed off White House anger with a blunt two-word response: “[Expletive] you.”
For Trump, the showdown with Greene adds to a mounting crisis as the shutdown drags into its second week. His reliance on AI-generated memes and aggressive social media attacks has rallied diehard supporters but alienated Republicans like Greene who once stood shoulder to shoulder with him.
Whether her rebellion sparks a wider GOP mutiny or fizzles out could decide how long Americans stay caught in the crossfire.

MTG is actually pissed at the evil Democrats for not passing the extension…
Article is wrong, there is a loophole that allows ILLEGALS to get ALL that stuff!
Sometimes temporary shutdowns, layoffs of some areas of funding in Government and related activities. When unexpected budget vampires (necessary expenses that blow a budget beyond any possible magic fix).
Yes, it is very scary, possibly dangerous at times. But it leaves responsible powers that be to have to Wade through cuts that do the lesser harm to the whole and can be enacted without everything being thrown out of kilter.
Most important things to keep are health, safety, education and childcare departments, defense; which I see as public health free or reduced fee clinics, school meals for underprivileged, after school childcare for working parents that can’t afford the expenses, food for elderly and homebound, police, fire, emergency services, our military, actual government services. Other than those, many things can be cut back on a temporary basis, to hopefully be immediately restored ASAP. Many cutbacks are a necessary evil, when previous administrations idea of necessary budget necessities err into too much unnecessary Fluff and wasted available money.
I know Trump and his Administration can see us through these unfortunate instances and possible disruption in services.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!! I still ove our country, no matter what!!
