A chaotic scene unfolded in Fresno, CA Friday night after a suspected DUI driver led police on a short chase that ended in a violent crash involving multiple vehicles.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Olive and Maple in east-central Fresno. According to police, officers initially tried to pull the driver over—but instead of stopping, the suspect sped off.

What followed was a brief pursuit that quickly turned dangerous.

Authorities say the driver crashed at the intersection, slamming into other vehicles and triggering a three-car collision. The impact sent shockwaves through the area and left multiple people injured.

In total, 10 people—including minors—were taken to the hospital.

Thankfully, officials say all of the victims are expected to recover.

Police confirmed the suspect is now in custody and facing a long list of serious charges. Fresno Police Lieutenant Michael Pierce said the driver is being held on felony warrants, felony evading, and nine counts of DUI.

The suspect was also taken to the hospital for treatment and will be booked into jail once medically cleared.

Meanwhile, crews worked late into the night to clear debris from the crash site as investigators pieced together exactly what happened.

  1. It’s California the judge will let him go, nobody in that state is ever held accountable. I think these days people read these things that happen in California and just think oh it’s California they won’t do anything. My question would be is the person who was drunk illegal????? I’m going to bet he or she was.
