A Georgia woman says she is grateful to be alive after a terrifying lightning strike outside her church left her without a pulse.

Mary “Jeanna” Menna, 54, was struck during a powerful storm outside St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobb County, Georgia, on May 6.

Surveillance video from the church parking lot captured the shocking moment Menna’s car was swallowed by a blinding flash of light as heavy rain poured down.

Menna said she had just opened her car door when lightning hit a tree next to her vehicle. The strike split the tree apart and sent a violent shockwave through her car.

The impact knocked Menna unconscious.

When paramedics arrived, they found her not breathing and without a pulse.

Emergency crews performed CPR in the parking lot before rushing her to the hospital, where she somehow survived the near-death ordeal.

At a press conference this week, Menna said the last thing she remembered was sitting in her car as the storm grew intense.

“The rain was very heavy,” she said. “It was thunder, lightning.”

She later learned what happened.

“Apparently the lightning hit the tree, split it in half, hit my car, and I went into cardiac arrest,” Menna said, according to WSB-TV.

The emotional survivor reunited with the first responders who saved her life, hugging the paramedics who raced to help her that day.

Marietta Fire Assistant Chief Kevin Gerhard said Menna was lucky to survive, especially given how dangerous the storm conditions were.

“One of the biggest challenges is it was raining so bad, so we had to get her out of the rain and into the ambulance,” Gerhard said.

He added that Kennestone Hospital was nearby and ready to treat her when she arrived.

Menna has since recovered and said she has been given a clean bill of health.

Now, she believes her faith played a major role in her survival.

She described the first responders who brought her back to life as “truly, God’s angels on earth.”
