A seaplane carrying eight people crashed into New York City’s East River on Sunday, triggering a major emergency response as the aircraft partially capsized in choppy water.

Video from the scene showed the plane bobbing in the river with one wing submerged while rescue crews worked quickly to remove everyone on board.

Officials said the seaplane made a hard landing shortly after noon near the Manhattan ferry and Skyport terminal along East 23rd Street and FDR Drive.

The FDNY rescued all eight people from the aircraft.

Two passengers suffered minor injuries and were evaluated by emergency medical personnel, officials said. No serious injuries were reported.

At least five vessels were seen assisting with the response, while another seaplane remained nearby as crews surrounded the disabled aircraft.

Once all of the passengers had been safely removed, responders managed to bring the plane upright in the water. It was then towed back to the docks.

The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, and police said the investigation remains ongoing.

The incident comes less than a month after another seaplane ran into trouble in the East River near the Throgs Neck Bridge.

In that earlier incident, the aircraft was struck by a wave during takeoff, leaving it struggling in the water before rescue crews were able to assist.
