With the Queen no longer alive, major changes will be taking place for the royal family.
According to a royal analyst, Megxit caused King Charles III and Prince William to become “closer together” because Prince Andrew will no longer be allowed to attend royal functions in the wake of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
William speaks to his father virtually every day, according to Katie Nicholl in her book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacyand the Future of the Crown, since the two are “on the same page” regarding topics pertaining to the monarchy.
In order to make a clean break from “scandals past and present,” the Royal Family is unanimous in wanting to exclude Andrew from future plans.
Because of his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, the Duke of York has become a contentious figure in recent years.
Nicholl said the King is prepared to “hit the ground running” when discussing the ramifications of Megxit, the name used to describe Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s contentious retirement from their royal duties in 2020.
“I think Megxit inevitably brought William and Charles closer together. Charles already has the plan for his first five years ready to go and he’s ready to hit the ground running and impress us as King,” said Nicholl.
“Now Charles and William holiday together and speak on the phone almost every day. They are also on the same page on the future of the monarchy.”
Was the Duke of York was protected by Queen Elizabeth II?
“I think the Queen was protecting him. I had sources very close to the Queen who said she asked Andrew what had happened and put him on the spot,” she said when discussing the Duke of York.
“He said he was innocent, and as a mother as well as the Queen she did stand behind him until the end,” she continued.
“What will happen now is interesting. We’ve seen Andrew be a key part of the royal mourning period but I don’t think we’re going to see much of him – if anything – now,” Nicholl added.
“Charles is focused on the future of the Royal Family and his reign. He’s not going to want that to be affected by scandals past or present. There will be a real streamlining that we will see played out in real time.”
