Written by: Elica Le Bon, an Iranian-American attorney and activist, went viral on TikTok talking about how young Americans are being brainwashed into backing Hamas terrorists and women-hating ayatollahs in Iran. She expands on her thoughts for The Post.

Since October 7th, myself and many others within the Iranian community have grown increasingly concerned about a troubling trend: the creeping sympathy among Westerners for the Islamic Republic.

It began with disturbingly casual remarks like, “We just support Hamas, stop making it something it’s not,” as if backing a terrorist organization was somehow acceptable.

Then, as the Red Sea attacks unfolded, we witnessed sentiments like, “Get you a friend like Yemen! Turn another ship around!” This not only failed to address the true nature of the Houthis but also dangerously blurred the lines between them and Yemen’s legitimate government.

And let’s not forget the vocal support for Hezbollah’s rocket attacks on northern Israel, hailed as “resistance.” That was strike three, aligning with all of Iran’s main proxies.

Now, some even clamor for Iran’s ayatollahs to strike Israel.

These sentiments are nothing short of romanticizing terror and theocratic oppression.

A cohort of TikTok-educated so-called “leftists” and “progressives” now turn their support toward the Islamic Republic, cheering on rockets from the safety of New York and London streets. Their misplaced enthusiasm resulted in the serious injury of a 7-year-old Bedouin girl.

Is this the “victory” from the “axis of resistance” they championed?

They celebrate a regime that systematically oppresses women, stifling their freedoms and subjecting them to draconian punishments for the slightest infractions. To call this generation of leftists “lost” is an understatement.

I’ve pondered what could drive the radical left to support such fascistic, authoritarian regimes. Perhaps it’s the indoctrination in Western academic institutions, where oppressive regimes are painted as “the good guys” fighting “Western imperialism.” Or maybe it’s an excess of privilege that blinds them to the realities of suffering, oppression, and tyranny.

Regardless, it’s a dangerous path they tread, championing violence and fantasizing about conflicts in the Middle East from the comfort of their safe havens.

The harsh reality is that dying isn’t a thrilling adventure for the people of the Middle East. We’ve endured decades of suffering, oppression, and conflict, while Western “leftists” salivate over our struggles.

We, the Iranian community, want a free and democratic Iran, peace between Israel and Palestine, and an end to the suffering in the region. We urge everyone to take the lives of those affected seriously and work towards real solutions.

We want a better future for our children—one free from the grip of theocratic terrorists.

Either join us in this fight or step aside.

  1. This writer seems to have the same problem as lots of people….for them is either one thing OR the other, they view the world and issues as binary 0 or 1 , black or white. That is NOT the real world….maybe she is also a Shia while Hamas is Sunni and they really hate each others

You can be Pro-Palestinian and see what Netanyahu is doing as criminal and also support Israel. I bet most students do not support Hamas , but they want to see Israel stop the bombing of civilians and Palestinian attain their own sovereign without Israel taking any more lands or lives from them.
I am a conservative and registered republican and nevertheless given the option between Trump and Biden, I will be supporting Biden in spite of the many issues I do not fully agree with him.
I am a gun owner, ex-combat veteran as well as a CWL holder and nevertheless I strongly support background checks and strong penalties for straw purchases and weapon violations.

Maybe the problem is most people have tunnel vision and no longer can listen or accept a different point of view
