In an era where every vote counts and the call for unity is louder than ever, it appears that not everyone in the Harris camp got the memo. Two prominent Black female activists, Cora Masters Barry and Melanie Campbell, who have been ardent supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, have a history of rhetoric that could ruffle feathers among a key demographic: White women. This potential rift comes as the campaign gears up for a crucial election in November.

Barry, an appointee of Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and a veteran civil rights activist, along with Campbell, head of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, have been frequent visitors to the White House. A Fox News Digital review revealed they’ve made over 50 combined visits during the Biden administration, including numerous meetings with Harris or her staff. However, it’s their incendiary comments from a 2021 Zoom call that are now resurfacing and causing concern.

Just weeks before President Biden and Harris took office, Barry and Campbell participated in a public Zoom call where they made inflammatory remarks about Trump supporters and White voters, especially White women. Barry’s infamous expletive-laden comment, “F— white women,” coupled with a string of other provocative statements, threatens to alienate a significant portion of the Harris base as the campaign stresses unity.

On a call organized by Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts and other female celebrities, approximately 164,000 White women gathered to show their support for Harris. This event, titled “White Women: Answer the Call,” raised millions of dollars for Harris’ campaign and was poised to be a major fundraising force. However, the resurfaced comments from Barry and Campbell now risk undermining this support.

Barry didn’t mince words during the 2021 call. “We have to change our strategy. We got to get our people. We have to get our – they got their people. They got all the trailer parks all covered,” she said. She went on to make a crass dismissal of White women, stating, “F— the white women– excuse me – forget the White women. They’re going to do what the White men tell them to do,” a sentiment that elicited laughter and applause from Campbell.

The divisive comments didn’t stop there. Barry suggested that the Black community must “get real serious about organizing to elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States,” dismissing White women as unreliable allies. Barry also made a shocking statement about women’s marches, indicating a willingness to use violence: “If they have another Women’s March – I’ll go over there and blow it up.”

Comparing Trump supporters to the Ku Klux Klan, Barry said, “I’m not saying everyone who voted for Trump is wearing a white sheet, but they got one in their closet.” Such incendiary remarks underscore the deep divisions within the campaign’s broader base.

Campbell echoed these sentiments, criticizing White women who supported Trump, attributing their votes to “race” and “White privilege.” She expressed frustration with White women who supported Trump, stating, “I have no interest in understanding why White folks do what they do. They do what they do because they doing what they do if I was them.”

The internal tension within the Harris campaign is palpable. Barry’s past praise of Louis Farrakhan, a notorious antisemite, further complicates her position within the campaign. At a private event in 2022, Barry praised Farrakhan, referring to him as a “friend” and “member of the family,” despite his decades of antisemitic rhetoric. This revelation casts a shadow over her credibility and raises questions about the inclusivity of the campaign.

While a spokesperson for Barry and Campbell defended the controversial remarks as comments on the reliability of White women as Democrat voters, the damage may already be done. As the Harris campaign continues to push for unity, these past remarks could create significant obstacles in rallying a diverse coalition of supporters. In politics, unity isn’t just a word—it’s an action. And actions, as we see, speak louder than words.
