Well, here we are again. Another attempt on the life of Donald Trump – the second in just three months. But this time, it’s not some unhinged, basement-dwelling radical leftist trying to take out the man who defied every political norm. No, this time, it’s a guy named Ryan Wesley Routh, 58 years old, who supposedly took aim at Trump from the shrubbery near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, armed with an AK-style rifle. But why? The answer, according to one of his former co-workers, is as mind-boggling as it is unsurprising: Putin.
Yes, apparently, this guy Routh had it out for Trump because of Trump’s so-called admiration for Russian President Vladimir Putin. That’s what John Tamura, a former colleague of Routh, told The Post on Thursday. It’s hard to keep track of all the accusations the left has thrown at Trump over the years, but this one feels familiar, doesn’t it? The “Trump loves Putin” narrative is back.
According to Tamura, who worked with Routh until a few months ago, Routh was pretty vocal about his disdain for Trump. But it wasn’t because of Trump’s policies on the border, taxes, or foreign affairs. No, it was because of the Russia connection. “He never liked [Trump] because he was with the Russian president,” Tamura recalled. It’s almost comical, isn’t it? The media and their Democratic allies have spent years trying to paint Trump as Putin’s puppet. They’ve twisted every handshake, every diplomatic meeting, into some sinister plot. And now, Routh – allegedly – bought into that nonsense so deeply, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Let’s not forget, this is the same Trump who, when Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, made it crystal clear that this never would’ve happened if he were still in office. “Russia respected America under our administration,” Trump said. And why wouldn’t they? Trump was the first president in decades who wasn’t interested in starting new wars or playing international police. The Democrats might not like it, but the fact is, under Trump, Putin didn’t dare pull the kind of stunts we’re seeing now.
But here’s where things get even stranger. Routh, it turns out, wasn’t just anti-Trump. He was obsessed with the war in Ukraine. In fact, he even self-published a book on the topic last year, and according to reports, he encouraged Iran to assassinate Trump. This man was clearly not in his right mind, but let’s pause for a moment: Where does a person get such a twisted view of reality? Could it be from the non-stop barrage of media lies and Democratic talking points that have demonized Trump for years?
Tamura says Routh even visited Kyiv in 2022, where he reached out to the International Legion of Ukraine with “delusional” ideas, according to a Ukrainian official. This guy was apparently so committed to his warped view of world politics that he bought a bulletproof vest and talked about volunteering to fight in Ukraine. So, he wasn’t just a fringe guy with weird opinions – he was actively preparing for battle.
But here’s what really needs to be asked: How much responsibility do our media and political elites bear for radicalizing people like Routh? For years, we’ve been bombarded with wild accusations about Trump and Russia. The Mueller investigation found nothing – no collusion. And the Durham report went even further, exposing how flawed the initial FBI investigation was. Yet, the media and the Democrats kept hammering away, keeping this absurd narrative alive. And now, here we are – a man allegedly plotting to assassinate a former U.S. president, supposedly over his foreign policy stance on Russia.
Of course, Routh is now facing federal gun charges, and his smirking mugshot has already made the rounds. But what about the real story here? When will the media, the Democrats, and their allies stop pushing violent rhetoric and conspiracy theories that fuel this kind of madness? It’s time we hold them accountable before another unhinged individual decides to act on the lies they’ve been fed.
We’ve reached a point where Trump’s life is in danger not because of what he’s done, but because of what people have been told about him.
