A longtime UFC fighter is now facing serious allegations after police say a heated argument at home turned into a violent confrontation involving his teenage daughter.
Tim Means, 42, was arrested in New Mexico following claims that he assaulted his 17-year-old daughter during a domestic dispute at his home in Tijeras on April 21.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News, police were called to the residence after the teen reported that an argument—allegedly over household chores—spiraled out of control.
What investigators say happened next is deeply disturbing.
The complaint alleges that Means head-butted his daughter before continuing the attack, which reportedly included choking her, throwing a potato at her, and striking her in the face.
When officers arrived, they documented visible injuries.
“There were visible hand and red marks on the teen’s neck, indicating she was strangled,” the complaint states.
Police also observed blood around her nose and multiple marks on her face that were consistent with being hit.
Means has since been charged with an open count of child abuse in connection with the incident.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the MMA world, where Means has been a familiar name for years.
He made his UFC debut in 2012 and has competed in dozens of fights across two separate stints with the promotion. A veteran of the welterweight division, he first turned pro in 2004 and fought in multiple organizations, including King of the Cage, where he won championship titles before returning to the UFC.
Outside the cage, Means has also worked as a wrestling coach at Moriarty High School—putting him in regular contact with young athletes in his community.
His most recent fight took place in October 2024, and he is still listed on the UFC’s active roster. As of now, the organization has not released a public statement regarding his arrest.
It’s unclear how the charge could impact his fighting career or his role as a coach moving forward.
The case remains under investigation.
