Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is at it again, claiming the media needs to keep pounding the drum on former President Donald Trump as an “existential” threat to American democracy. That’s right—the woman who lost to Trump in 2016 and failed to secure the nomination in 2008 is now telling the press how to do its job. And it’s no surprise she’s doing it from the stage of the Clinton Global Initiative, during a special edition of PBS News’ Firing Line with Margaret Hoover.
Clinton didn’t hold back, stating that the media must promote a “consistent narrative” about the supposed danger Trump poses, despite the fact that Trump has survived multiple assassination attempts. Yes, you heard that right—Clinton somehow thinks that the media needs to work even harder to portray Trump as a threat, even though he’s the one who’s been targeted.
And let’s not forget, Clinton tied Trump to Project 2025, a conservative policy initiative, even though Trump has publicly condemned it and had nothing to do with its creation. But did the host, Margaret Hoover, challenge Clinton on this blatant mischaracterization? Of course not. Instead, she let Clinton continue to spin her web of fearmongering, unchecked and unchallenged.
Clinton also took the opportunity to portray herself as the victim—again—claiming that Trump had ordered investigations into her. She went so far as to say she’s “the most investigated innocent person you have ever met in your entire life.” Now, let’s pause here. This is the same Hillary Clinton who deleted thousands of emails and had her own server while serving as Secretary of State, yet somehow she’s the innocent victim? Sure, Hillary.
But the real kicker came when Clinton started talking about how the media needs to push the narrative that Trump is a danger. She openly said, “The press needs a consistent narrative about the danger that Trump poses.” In other words, Clinton thinks the media should drop any pretense of objectivity and focus entirely on painting Trump as a menace, regardless of what voters actually think. She even acknowledged that people might still vote for Trump despite the media’s efforts, which she clearly finds baffling.
And then there was the bizarre claim that “something will happen in October” to Vice President Kamala Harris—an insinuation that Russia will somehow be involved in distorting or discrediting Harris. Clinton didn’t offer any specifics, of course. She just tossed out the suggestion that the Russians are plotting against Harris, leaving it hanging out there for her audience to chew on. It’s classic Clinton—throw out an accusation, and let the media run with it.
What’s remarkable here isn’t just Clinton’s willingness to tell the press to push a one-sided story, but the fact that the media has been doing exactly that for years. From the Russia collusion hoax to the impeachment circus, the media has already proven that they’ll do whatever it takes to tear down Trump. Yet somehow, that’s not enough for Clinton. She wants even more.
At the end of the day, Hillary Clinton’s message is clear: the media should abandon any remaining journalistic integrity and focus entirely on making Donald Trump out to be an existential threat to the country. Forget balanced reporting. Forget the facts. Just follow Clinton’s lead and do whatever it takes to stop Trump. Because in her world, the ends always justify the means.
And once again, Clinton is positioning herself as the noble victim, fighting off the forces of evil while warning of Russian plots and Trump’s impending return to power. It’s the same old story, and it’s getting more ridiculous by the day.
